We Value …
- * Worship – Worship is a lifestyle, not just a church service!
- * Spiritual Growth – Discipleship means to become more like Jesus.
- * The Application of Scripture – Our teaching is designed to transform lives.
- * Service – There is a place for everyone to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
- * Relevance – We may change some things, but never the message of the Gospel.
- * Hospitality – We are a church family expecting guests, of all ages. * Invitations – We know every person matters to God.
The United Methodist Church believes that the mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The central teaching of Scripture is the love of God for humanity and God’s overwhelming desire to save us from the consequences of our sin. This is most clearly seen in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, who was given for a lost and dying world. We hold to the truth that Jesus is the Resurrected Savior and He will come again.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17 (NIV)
We believe in one true God who equally and eternally exist in three Persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit exist as the perfect Trinity in complete unity in being, essence, character, power, mission and love.
We believe in God the Father who is actively and graciously engaged in the affairs of humanity. We believe in God the Son who is both fully human and fully God. We believe Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe Jesus lived a sinless life and willingly died on the cross to bring us into a reconciled relationship with God the Father. Through Jesus’ sacrifice all people are given the opportunity of salvation if they will believe in Him and trust their lives to His authority. We believe that Jesus physically rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and will return to earth to make all things new.
We believe in God the Holy Spirit who is equal with the Father and the Son. We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s very presence on the earth and within all believers, to point people to salvation in Jesus Christ and to help us grow to be more Christ-like. The Holy Spirit gives every follower of Jesus spiritual gifts that we use to help us be an effective witness for Jesus in the world.
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. We believe the Bible contains all we need to know about salvation and it is the final authority for our faith and practice. Our preaching and teaching is grounded in Scripture, informed by Christian tradition, enlivened in experience, and tested by reason.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Salvation simply means having a right relationship with God both now and forever. We believe that sin has separated us from God. We believe that all people have sinned, but all can be saved. We believe salvation is available to any person who will put their faith in Jesus as Savior.
We believe baptism is an outward sign of our adoption into God’s family (the church). We believe that baptism does not save a person. However, baptism is an important step in one’s faith journey that publicly identifies a person as being a part of God’s people on earth who are called to live a new life in Jesus Christ. We practice infant baptism.
We believe Communion is a time to remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ and renew our relationship with Him. Communion is not just a time to look back at what Christ has done for us, but also look ahead with hope to His return. Each time Communion is offered we welcome all who love the God, repent of their sins and seek to live in peace with one another to join us at the table Christ has set.
Do this in remembrance of me. – Luke 22:19
We believe that God has a special and unique purpose for every person. Each follower of Jesus has a common purpose: to love God and to love our neighbors. As followers of Jesus, we seek to continually live a life that displays our love for God and our love for the people that God brings into our lives. God gives every person gifts, abilities, and experiences that can be used to help others.
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” – Matthew 22:35-40
We believe the Church is made up of all those in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We believe the Church is called to live in fellowship with one another, worship together in unity and help each other become more like Christ through word and deed. The Church is called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to bring the saving and healing power of Jesus Christ to a lost and hurting world.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20
