Special Offerings

Throughout the year there are special offerings. Some of he ideas generated by our members like:

"Undies Sunday" where over 100 pairs of men's underwear were donated for the homeless served by the Buffalo Burrito Project.

"Sock it to me Sunday " where (you guessed it) socks will be  collected.

"A mile of pennies"  collected by our Sunday School Kids to benefit the children at the Red Bird Mission.

Change jar for your loose change to benefit Seneca St United Methodist Church.

Seneca Street United Methodist Church

Seneca St church is located in one the less fortunate areas of Buffalo. We support them throughout the year with food donations, school supplies, preparing fellowship dinners as well as some financial help.

Red Bird Mission

This mission provides essential needs and daily care items to a central  location in Kentucky, They are then distributed to places in need throughout the country.

This year the Mission Team at Endwell United Methodist Church will again coordinate the collection and delivery of shoeboxes for the Red Bird Mission.

In December of 2021 four volunteers drove two 26-foot trucks to the mission in Kentucky. They transported over 2,700 shoeboxes, over 120 sheet sets and bedspreads, as well as books, school supplies and cleaning products.

The need is even greater this year. The mission center was spared from the flooding this year, but they gave many needed supplies to surrounding communities to help in their recovery.

The goal this year is collect over 3,500 shoeboxes and other supplies. We will be the hub for the shoe box collection again this year. The Enwell's truck will pick them up usually the week before Thanksgiving.  See Bonnie, our secretary, if you would like a plastic shoebox with a lid.

Things needed for the adult Shoeboxes:

Comb, brush, shampoo, hand lotion, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, ChapStick, full size bar of soap, washcloth, disposable razors, shaving cream, nail care supplies, socks, work gloves or mittens, winter hat or scarf.

Things needed for the children’s Shoeboxes:

Two or three small toys, two or three items needed for school, comb or brush, shampoo, hand lotion, child’s toothbrush and toothpaste, ChapStick, full size bar of soap, washcloth, a small flashlight, socks, mittens, winter hat.

The Mission also needs:

New pillows, new sheet set and new blankets for full or twin beds. New bath towels. (Used items cannot be sent.)

Books, school supplies and new backpacks are needed as well as cleaning supplies.

To cover the cost of truck rental and fuel, lodging and food for our volunteers they are asking a donation of $1.50. Do not put the money in the box. Put the money in an envelope and attach it to the box.

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)

Here at Asbury we collect for UMCOR on a regular basis. Most of the time we put together flood buckets for disaster relief. They are stored in a warehouse in Syracuse and distributed where and when needed.

5th Sunday Collections

When there is a 5th Sunday in a month we have a dedicated cause to which we donate. Recently we collected for the Ukrainian people in need. Some of our other donations have gone to the foundations for muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and cystic fibrosis.

We are always open to suggestions for future donations.
