The other day, I was grocery shopping with my family. When we got to the hot dogs, I began looking for a particular brand but did not see it. My wife informed me it was right in front of me. I assured her it was not. Then, she pointed it out, and behold, it was there! This is quite common in my house. The stereotype that the husband cannot find the thing, so the wife “reveals” it, is a fitting reflection for our relationship.
Sometimes, our relationship with God is that way. We cannot quite see Truth or Reality. So God reveals it to us, so we are able to clearly see it. This is the essence of Epiphany. Epiphany is about God Revealing. In Epiphany, God reveals who God is. In Epiphany, God reveals Jesus Christ as the Messiah. And in Epiphany, God reveals how God wants us to live.
This upcoming Sunday, we will be exploring this last point. How God wants us to live.
You can prepare for the service by reading Micah 6: 6-8.
Worship starts at 11am, but if you are unable to attend the service, you can watch it online here:
I hope to see you there if you can make it!
